People forget - all the donations in the world don’t give a donor more than one vote. It’s the time politicians are most vulnerable, which I guess is why there is so much gerrymandering and work to make it harder for people to vote. Makes me sad when people say their vote is pointless.

Great response from Durbin. And our voices and vote are powerful tools to sway our elected officials.

We have to do everything we can right now. We're up against powerful forces that do not want to do the right thing.

This letter is a lot better than anything I got. All of my answers came back in the form of paragraphs of nothingness from the local republican rep in my district. I gave up thinking I or anyone else would ever get a straight answer out of this guy.

In the UK most of us voters face a HUGE dilemma. Even most lifelong solid Tory voters don't want THEM back in but no way will they vote Labour. The preferred alternatives for them seem to be - for the well off educated ones the GREEN party; for the poor pig ignorant ones the REFORM party. I'm joking(?). A lot of traditional LABOUR voters feel wary of voting Labour because we think, oops they think Sir Carealot will rip the mask off if elected to power and reveal his hidden Tory. And from carefully worded letters to my MP and equally carefully worded replies I know that if Labour gain control they intend to carry on with many of the plans recently started and also intend to apply with efficiency the draconian laws that have been put on our legal statues under cover of the COVID crisis but not used by the previous administration as most of them barely knew what day it was.

I have a suspicion, this is not a prediction, that the previous administration will get back in because the anti-vote will get so diffused between Labour,Lib-Dem,Social-Democrat(whoever they are),Greens,Reform, and a number of others I can't remember names of and of course The Monster Raving Looney party.

So it's very likely for us it's going to be "same old, same old" - or fighting in the streets.

I cannot comprehend British politics! But American politics are no doubt worse.
