When I watch movies where people work like this it gives me anxiety...even just watching it on TV.
I was pretty lucky to have scored a union job as my first introduction to the corporate world. That meant they weren't allowed to do this shit to us. I dare say, even if I hadn't had a union job with cushy rules, single parenthood would have prevented me from working like a total madwoman in the way you describe. But then again, being a single parent was just like working two jobs.

I am doing both. The fact is, I’m extraordinarily proud of all my accomplishments and of how hard I worked. I’m also pissed that so many people like me got nothing for it.
