I'm glad you called it out. It saddens me so much that instead of healthy and robust debate on topics, where people can subsequently agree to disagree and move on, people are subjected to 'keyboard warriors'.
I especially loathe those who purposefully twist another's words like this person did, to a) try and guilt-trip you into changing your approach, b) get others to treat you as a pariah, and c) gain attention and attempt to portray themselves as somehow 'better' and 'more tolerant' than the original writer/speaker.
In unsolicited emails to an address I did not give her, she claimed we know people in common (we do not) and, to my reading, implied that she was badmouthing me to these people because of a spicy (but accurate) PRIVATE DM I sent her in response to an UNSOLICITED DM she sent me, after I told her I had no interest in communicating with her. So this tracks! I’m so glad others see her for who she is.
Well...I could rant and rave all day here but I'd rather go look for her and see this garbage for myself. Thanks for sharing this Michelle. I'm not into internet battles but some deserve my attention.
I recommend not interacting. See my restack- if she knows your real name, she may try to have you “cancelled” (a thing she whines about, unless it happens to involve someone she agrees with).
In my case, there’s no doxxing possible because I use my real name. She can’t do anything to me except cause me to damage my eyes via excessive eye rolling.
He’s saying she again republished a (accurate) comment made in private in response to an unsolicited DM she sent me, 3 months ago, which she’s used to harass me since then and is still apparently really triggered about!
She has a handful of idiots clapping like seals in her replies but I’m sure most either don’t read her carefully or are just as damaged and sad as she is. I mean, imagine falling into French permanent residency the way she had and still being miserable (and bragging about being a “legal immigrant” by doing it the literal easiest way possible, by marrying a French citizen).
My husband is a legal U.S. resident and although it was a lot of paperwork and money, it is still, by FAR, the easiest way. If he had just taken it into his head to move here otherwise, I don't know that he could have. People don't understand how difficult immigration is.
Thank you. She’s not someone I ever want to talk to again. Almost everything she’s working for is something I’m working against. Her support for the French right wing is shocking!
My telling her-accurately, but in a PRIVATE reply to an UNSOLICITED DM she sent me- that she supports people who’d like to put Jews in cattle cars really got her mad, and has led her to leak that PRIVATE message and doxx me in several unhinged Substack posts.
As someone who isn't Jewish, I feel I need to tread carefully here, but I did find it shocking that a Jewish person could support the very people who consigned them to death not long ago at all. My husband is Dutch. His father lived through the Nazi occupation! His aunt, who died at 98 less than a year ago, had many stories to tell about that time -- none of them good. She moved to the U.S. after the war, which is the whole reason I ever met my husband -- he was here visiting her when I met him.
This is a whole thing we’re struggling with right now. Jews in the US have historically been very liberal/progressive, and were on the front lines of the civil rights movement, etc. And most still are. But there’s this creeping right winginess that’s entirely motivated by fear and hatred of terrorism against Israel and those who commit it that makes many subject to manipulation and exploitation by the right wing, which just hates Muslims.
She loves the bias-based insults. She frequently uses the R word. She also is fond of calling other women “pick-mes,” which I understand is a gender coded insult so I don’t use it but…girl have you read your own posts and looked at your own damn profile photo???
Oh I have an entire story about being harassed and cyberstalked (lightly, I guess I the scheme of things, but INCREDIBLY weird and creepy nonetheless) by this person.
I had a deja-vu when I saw your interaction with this crazy lady. I had the same unpleasant experience with her comments. I blocked her as her mediatic harassment got a little bit to far.
I don't care if people have different opinions, but disapprove is their argumentation gets to weird and caustic.
When I teach (macro)economics, it's always from a Keynesian viewpoint. Sometimes an economy stalls. The government can and should step in when that happens. Getting it to step back out is hard. But if you want a library built, you'll need to rely on your local government. And, if you want a national defense, you need to rely on the federal government.
Markets fail--not when a company gets too big, but when there is a a good or service we perceive as a need. If it weren't for EMCs I wouldn't have electricity. Now, I believe that decent internet is a need.
As as Friedman himself said, "we're all Keynesian's now." Our view of the world changed when the concept of GDP and its reliance on demand from consumers, businesses, and even governments was introduced by Keynes and huis followers.
What does Target have that NO OTHER shop in Europe (all the different countries, from Greece to Norway passing through Austria and maybe Portugal) has?
I agree that it was uncalled for to bring race into this. The three people she mentioned are very conservative and it should come as no surprise that someone who is liberal or even middle of the road would disagree with their policy prescriptions. However, I imagine she is referring to Milton Friedman not Thomas Friedman.
Though the economy is of only passing interest, I love your opinions and the style of your expression. I agree we have alot to learn from Europeans and the can be ignorant of American mores.
UPDATE: I'm having a great old time in her comments with her. I'm racist too, apparently 😂
But are you a heifer, like me?!?
LOL no but I’m an Islamophobe because I don’t respect bin Laden’s work.
she just tried to provoke you to get more comments. She's frustrated that her posts don't get any attention.
I’m not that polite. But mainly, I wanted to be very clear that I don’t accept racism.
Haha well it didn't work. I politely bowed out, as any Canadian would do 😁
😂

I think today she doxxed you again.
I confirm that there is a high risk of doxxing. I do not now her, but I recommend to be careful!
As you know, I was commenting in the same thread that you were the other day, and then today I saw the hateful post on Notes. I blocked her.

I'm stuck on 'heifer'. When the ad hominem starts, it's an admission of loss on the points being debated.
I still laugh over the "Friedman Unit" equating for six months.
It made me feel as if I were being picked on by an angry tween.

I’m sorry you had to deal with her nonsense. Substack should be more proactive in moderating this type of toxic behavior

Could be —she wasn’t specific. She still had to eat a tire with a spork, because I’ve read him, too!
I shared that thought on Milton not Thomas.
She still uses the r word on the reg. A real gem.
WORD 🙌
Though the economy is of only passing interest, I love your opinions and the style of your expression. I agree we have alot to learn from Europeans and the can be ignorant of American mores.
Don't you mean Milton Friedman?
She didn’t say. I hope she’s started eating the tire because it’s going to take her a while!
