I love reading your posts and those of so many others! Which brings me to my point. I can't afford to subscribe to everyone! But I could buy you a Kofi now and again if you offered that option in your posts. And I loved the Trailer Park Rules! Such an insightful look at the kinds of people I would never meet up with in my privileged place here where I live.

Keepem comin'

Yes, giving occasional tip when we could afford it would be a nice option.

Almost all of us accept tips. I always feel a bit bad about putting my tipping info up, but maybe I need to get over it.

they don’t like the moniker but it’s called the Prosperity Gospel

basically the undergirding beliefs build on Weber’s understanding of the Protestant Work Ethic which build’s on Calvin’s conception of “the Elect”

in the earlier understandings working hard was duty but to be able to build wealth and foster a hard working family and or community was a mark of divine favor

we’ve lost or discarded many of the nuances of this and now if you’re real rich if you’re prospering (in prosperity gospel anyway) you’re the elect it is a mark of divine favor and if you aren’t thriving it must be because of something you did or did not do

tithe more be more pious the elect say but they can’t be the problem their prosperity in these systems functions to affirm their righteousness

so apply that lens to much of the christian nationalist movement and think about why they despise the weak, the poor, the sick, or the powerless they actually believe such people are evil or outside grace

this also helps one to understand why they feel deeply threatened by the words of Bishop Budde

We’re dealing with completely different ideologies here christianity does not equal christianity (fun times both groups claim the label)

Certainly we have a battle before us. The midterms will be our Manassas. https://hotbuttons.substack.com/p/mentally-impaired-psychopathic-neo?r=3m1bs

Love this - for its clarity. And bravo for speaking out against the Reverse Robinhood that has defined one of America's political parties since the Reagan era - the chickens are coming home to roost - and it's not pleasant.

Love their economic solutions for the US. Create an office of billionaires, not elected, and give them a whole bunch of money to create AI to replace humans. And build themselves better rocketships. Sucked dry.
